FAQ
Nexus Frequently Asked Questions
Construction teams ask us the same questions again and again. Here are straight answers, grouped by topic. If yours is not here, bring it to a demo and we will work through it with you.
THE BASICS
01What is Fractal Nexus?
Nexus is a cloud platform for construction businesses. It connects the systems a company already uses, like ERP, dispatch, ticketing and accounting, and brings systems, data, operations and payments together on one connected foundation. It does this without replacing the technology you already rely on.
02Does Nexus replace my accounting software or my ERP?
No. Nexus connects to the systems you already run and sits around them. It is not another system of record. Replacement is only worth discussing when there is a real business reason for it, and it should never be the starting assumption.
03Who is Nexus for?
Construction businesses, with the strongest fit in concrete and ready-mix, materials and trucking. The people who usually ask about it are finance and accounting leads, operations and dispatch leads, and owners.
CONNECTING YOUR SYSTEMS
04How do I connect dispatch software to accounting without re-keying?
Nexus Connect builds two-way connections that read data from a system and write results back. A delivery ticket that is accepted in dispatch can reach accounting with what billing needs to prepare an invoice, and the result can return to dispatch. Which systems and fields are supported is confirmed when we scope your setup.
05Can Nexus work with software that runs on our own computers at the plant?
Yes, for supported software. Nexus Edge installs on an on-site computer and creates a protected link between your on-site apps and Nexus. Your existing desktop software stays where it is, with no data migration and no change to how your team works.
06Do I have to migrate my data or retrain my team?
The site describes Nexus as no rip-and-replace project and no retraining the whole yard or team. You start with one current problem and add capabilities when you are ready.
ACCOUNTING AND REPORTING
07How can I see profit by plant if my accounting software cannot class multiple locations?
A plant-level view needs costs and revenue tagged to the plant they belong to. Nexus can bring operational and financial data together into per-plant and company-wide reporting as a separate view, so you do not have to change your accounting setup to see it. How it works for you depends on how your costs are tagged today.
08How do I tie receivables from two systems to one balance sheet number?
Nexus brings receivables from each system into one view so finance can reconcile them against a single figure. Combining two ledgers is confirmed during scoping, since it depends on how each system records balances and customers.
PAYMENTS
09What is Fractal Payments?
Fractal Payments is payments and banking for construction businesses. Card processing runs through the Fractal Gateway, and pay-by-bank runs through SkyFi. Customers can pay by card or bank, and payment status stays in sync with your financial system. Fractal and SkyFi are fintech companies, not banks. Banking services are provided by Grasshopper Bank, N.A., Member FDIC.
10What about customers who pay by check or cash?
Most ready-mix customers still pay this way, and posting those payments is manual work today. A connected system changes what happens around it, like keeping the invoice, the customer and the balance together. We will tell you plainly which steps stay manual in your setup.
AI AND CREDIT
11What can an AI agent do in Nexus?
An agent should be given a specific job before it is given access: a defined task, the records it may read, the actions it may take and who approves them. Nexus Agentic Intelligence is a planned capability and is not released yet. Specific actions and approval controls are confirmed for each workflow when it is released.
12Does Nexus offer credit scoring or automated credit decisions?
No. Credit decision support and risk assessment are planned capabilities with no committed launch date. Payment history is useful evidence for a credit review, but it is a signal to investigate and not a credit decision.
GETTING STARTED
13How does a Nexus engagement work?
It has four steps. First, map the operation: the systems, data, people, payment flows and handoffs that shape work today. Second, prioritize the friction, which for many businesses is getting paid. Third, connect and build: connect the relevant systems, set up Intelligence and turn on only the apps you need. Fourth, learn and extend: measure what changed and add apps or locations as priorities grow.
14Where should I start, and can I try it hands-on?
Pick one handoff that matters, like an accepted delivery ticket reaching billing, or one invoice that took too much effort to collect. Ask for a hands-on demo and bring that workflow, and we will work from your example and not a generic script.
